CARDIFF-BASED Yolk Recruitment has appointed a new principal consultant to bolster its legal division, following a period of unprecedented growth for its legal team.

Daniel Mason, 37, joins the business as part of Yolk’s ambitious growth strategy, with the firm on course to solidify its position as Wales’ market-leading recruitment agency by 2020.

Mr Mason has over four years of experience in legal recruitment and a background in legal practice. He will be responsible for placing candidates into senior roles as well as developing new markets and regions.

The appointment comes after Yolk announced a 96% growth in its legal clientele and a 52% growth in revenue from legal clients over the past year.

This growth in demand for legal recruitment services has led to the expansion of the legal team.

New associate consultants Lewis Wells, Isaac Ridgley and Amelia Gulliford have also joined the firm along with consultant Rebecca Bond.

Kent-born Mr Mason, who now lives in south Wales, previously practised as a solicitor and worked as a political speechwriter and researcher before moving into legal recruitment.

His focus will be on strengthening Yolk’s relationships with its legal clients, ranging from small high street firms to global organisations.

Mr Mason said: “Yolk is a wellrespected brand and has a compelling offer for law firms of all sizes seeking the highest quality legal talent in the marketplace.

“The rise of Fintech and the broader tech sector has led to rising demand for technology lawyers. With changes in employment law and many firms merging, the legal sector has seen significant changes over the last year. With uncertain times over Brexit and the abolition of the bridge tolls, it is more challenging than ever to attract the best talent as candidates gravitate to larger salaries over the bridge.

“However, firms are adapting to modern ways of working and offering improved incentives. Combined with the lower cost of living, excellent opportunities that rival those in bigger cities and beautiful scenery, candidates are waking up to the fact that Wales has a lot to offer”

“I am pleased to join such an ambitious team and look forward to helping law firms achieve their most ambitious goals through a smarter approach to recruitment.”

Yolk Recruitment was founded in 2009 by Dale Williams and Duncan Powell. The firm employs a rapidly growing team of 65 people across a wide range of sectors including legal, clerical, marketing, finance and technology at a state-of-the-art head office located in Anchor Court, Cardiff.

Legal Divisional head at Yolk Recruitment, Sarah Castle, who started the division in 2014 after identifying a gap in the south Wales legal recruitment market, said: “We are delighted to welcome Daniel to the team.

“He brings with him a wealth of experience, mainly dealing with highly-qualified and specialist lawyers across the country.

“The addition of Daniel is key to our division’s growth strategy as we seek to achieve our goal of reshaping recruitment, providing not just excellent candidates, but offering a service that is based on ethics, professionalism and consistent excellence.”
