Let’s hope for another epic victory at HQ!

I ENJOYED reading Lions, Wales and Blues legend Sam Warburton’s recollections of visiting Twickenham during his playing career.

In particular, I enjoyed hearing the advice fellow legend Ryan Jones gave Sam, Taulupe Faletau and Dan Lydiate following Wales’ exciting victory which clinched the Triple Crown at HQ in 2012, namely enjoy and savour the moment as they are rare occurrences!

I was lucky enough to be there that day, hosting an English client and friend named Tony on behalf of my employer.

As we awaited the start of the game, I unfurled my Owain Glyndwr flag which always accompanies me in place of the Red Dragon when we play our old foe!

We were totally surrounded by English fans, and a chap behind asked about the flag’s origins and when I told him he said: “But I thought Charlie Windsor was your prince,” which had both Tony and me in fits of laughter!

Our seats behind the goalposts in the middle tier could not have been better that day as Scott Williams single-handedly scored a fantastic winning try which has gone down in rugby folklore, and sent every Welsh fan delirious.

Poor Tony, who was very gracious in defeat, did complain that he only saw Scott’s try later on TV as there was an Owain Glyndwr flag covering his face as the action unfurled and his overexcited host almost fell into the row in front while waving the banner!

Fingers crossed that at 6.30pm on Saturday, Alun Wyn will be repeating Ryan’s happy wisdoms after another epic Welsh victory at HQ.
