SEARCHES FOR EUROPEAN SUMMER HOLIDAYS ARE ON THE RISE
SEARCHES for package holidays to Spain this summer have increased by 52%, Greece by 51% and Portugal by 38% in the last fortnight on the back of news that European holiday destinations are looking to reopen to international tourists.
There have been 40% more price comparison searches for July, August and September holidays, according to searches via holiday price comparison site, TravelSupermarket, for package holidays overseas departing between July 1 up to October 31 this year.
“Talk of air bridges and countries opening up to tourism appears to be getting people searching and comparing holiday prices,” explains Emma Coulthurst, travel commentator from TravelSupermarket.
“Holiday prices have also been creeping down in the last fortnight and there are some good prices on offer. However, the reality is that we don’t yet know when Brits will be able to travel again. The FCO indefinite advice against anything but essential travel remains in place and there is no indication of when this will be lifted.”
UNLOCKING THE FLORIDA KEYS
THE Florida Keys island chain has reopened to visitors after being closed to non-residents due to coronavirus.
Lodging properties, restaurants, beaches, attractions, watersports and other businesses have implemented safeguards that include enhanced sanitising, reduced occupancy limits, social distancing and the wearing of masks, and barriers or increased space between seating areas and restaurant tables.
