McBryde leaves RGC to join the Knights
BILLY McBryde, the son of former Wales forwards coach Robin, has joined Doncaster Knights from RGC.
The fly-half joined the North Wales club in 2018, playing more than 50 times before deciding to move to England.
RGC’s performance manager Josh Leach said: “It is great to see another player move onto to professional rugby, and a huge amount of credit goes to Billy and the coaches for the work over the past two seasons.
“Having been with the Scarlets, we have seen Billy grow as a player in his time in North Wales – which included gaining a landmark 50 uninterrupted appearances for RGC, and culminated on topping the point-scoring charts in the 2019/20 Indigo Group Premiership season.
“For RGC it is another name to add to the list from a development point of view, who has progressed to the professional game.
“Everyone at RGC wishes Billy well on the move, and thank him for the past two years in an RGC shirt”
■ EDDIE Jones has revealed the media strategy he unleashed in an effort to destabilise the All Blacks before last year’s Rugby World Cup semi-final.
England beat the All Blacks in Japan at the end of a week in which he claimed New Zealand may have spied on his training sessions, while he also labelled the New Zealand media “fans with keyboards”.
England head coach Jones said that the world’s best teams are so close physically and tactically that mental preparation is often the factor which decides the winning and losing of games.
“We wanted to try to put pressure on the New Zealand media, stir things up a bit, put some pressure on Steve Hansen during the week,” he said in an interview with Newstalk ZB’s Martin Devlin.
“If you allow the media to run the race they will run the race.
“You’ve got to try and exert some control and get the messages you want out there.
“I want the players to hear messages that aid their performances.
“We know that everything we say (publicly) as coaches the players do listen to, or someone in their family listens to it.
“You’ve got to continually reinforce with your team that the only noise which is important is the noise in the room.”
