400 NEW DVLA JOBS IN COVID RESPONSE
THE DVLA is recruiting 400 new employees in a drive to support its response to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Fixed-term roles, including 300 administrative assistants (AA) and 100 assistant officers (AO) are being drafted into the government agency in Swansea, a DVLA spokesman confirmed.
In a statement, the DVLA said it was working to meet the needs of customers in the wake of the pandemic.
“We are looking for focused, organised and efficient individuals to join our team.
“We’re seeking individuals who feel they can help to improve the services we offer our customers and who enjoy a varied workload.
“The Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) is an Executive
Agency of the Department for Transport (DfT).
“We are responsible for maintaining over 45 million driver records and over 38 million vehicle records and collect over £6 billion a year in vehicle tax.
“DVLA is working hard to ensure we meet the needs of our customers during these unprecedented times.
“The need for additional resource across our services to support our response to coronavirus is a key focus, and we are looking for highly motivated flexible individuals who are customer focused to undertake a wide range of administrative and coordination support services to support the Operations and Customer Service Directorate.”
The DVLA has three sites across Swansea and already employs 6,000 full-time and part-time staff in areas including operational and customer services, digital and technology, human resources, finance, communications, commercial, and policy, along with the drivers medical group.
DVLA customers were warned they must expect “significant delays” throughout the coronavirus pandemic with their car tax applications and vehicle licensing.
A DVLA statement, issued during the crisis, said: “We’re prioritising applications for HGV drivers and key workers to make sure they get the documents they need.”
