LRZ almost left in tears by his idol

-

WELSH rugby wonderkid Louis Rees-Zammit was nearly left in tears after receiving some pearls of wisdom from one of his heroes.

The 19-year-old has previously mentioned that Wales’ all-time top-scorer Shane Williams is his rugby idol.

And, when Rees-Zammit appeared on Williams’ podcast the Tuesday Club, which he has recently started co-hosting alongside pundit Sean Holley and actor Kyle Rees, he had the chance to speak with the player he grew up watching.

Not only did the pair have a chat, but the former Ospreys flyer even had a bit of advice for the Gloucester youngster.

“What I see with you, you’ve come through the academies and schools and you’ve hit the Premiership flat out,” Shane told Rees-Zammit on the podcast.

“You’ve got this confidence that I haven’t seen in a new player since George North. I like the way you play. You’re a little bit cocky and arrogant and there’s nothing wrong with that.

“If you can bring that and develop that in the Welsh set-up and get that first Wales cap that I think you should have got in the Six Nations, I think you’ll be fine. It’s quite encouraging and humbling to see how you’re taking it all on board.

“You don’t need to change anything in what you’re doing. You’re full of confidence and you back your speed. When you get the chance to play for Wales, you do exactly the same.

“I have no doubt when you get the opportunity, you’ll take it with both hands and all the best with that.

And when asked for a reaction by Holley after hearing that piece of wisdom from his hero, ReesZammit was nearly lost for words.

“I feel like I’m going to cry!” he joked.

“It’s obviously amazing. It’s all come quite fast for me. I’m just trying to take it as it comes, every opportunity.

“It’s all a bit surreal. I’m loving everything at the minute.”
