Conbeer looking to extend run

-

SCARLETS wing Ryan Conbeer is hoping to maintain his try-scoring form when Glenn Delaney’s side head to Belfast to face Ulster in the Guinness PRO14 tomorrow (7.35pm).

The Pembrokshire flyer has crossed for three tries in his last two appearances, including a fine double finish in last weekend’s win over Connacht in Galway.

Scarlets are back across the Irish Sea when they take on unbeaten Ulster at the Kingspan Stadium with Conbeer looking forward to the challenge that awaits.

“It is always hard to win away from home, especially when you are playing the Irish teams, hopefully we can have some better weather and play some good rugby out there,” said the 21-year-old.

“It has been a bit of a tough start to the season, but we have got some good wins under our belt, we just need to keep progressing, working on the things we need to keep working on and just get better as a squad.”

Conbeer has good memories of games against the Ulstermen – he scored a stunning solo try on his PRO14 debut against the Irish province at Parc y Scarlets two years ago.

“I came off the bench on my debut and it was my first Scarlets try,” he recalled.

“For me, it is about taking every opportunity, keep getting the basics right and hopefully you will be picked for the next team.

“There is a lot of competition in the squad, Wales internationals and British Lions in that back three, but the competition is good. You also know that when they are away on international duty, you have got to put the jersey on and perform.”
