PLAN A BIG LUNCH IN WALES THIS SUMMER & CLAIM FREE TREATS!

- Ljenkins@edenproject.com

The Big Lunch is the UK’s annual big date to celebrate and give thanks to our neighbours and communities. This year’s Big Lunch kicks off on the weekend of the 5-6 of June and the team in Wales have linked up with Tempo to offer people in Wales a big thank you for getting involved.

Lowri Jenkins, The Big Lunch Wales manager said, “The Big Lunch is all about connecting with your neighbours, and we need that now more than ever. Planning a Big Lunch is a great thing to do for your community so we’re delighted to team up with Tempo to be able to thank you for the time you give.”

Tempo is a charity that recognises the valuable contribution of volunteers, by rewarding them for their time. For every hour spent planning The Big Lunch in Wales this year, organisers get an equivalent hour in credit to spend as they wish. There’s a huge amount of fun activities and treats to choose from such as fun days out, meal vouchers and more!

Rachel Gegeshidze from Tempo said: “We’re really excited to offer Big Lunch organisers Tempo Time Credits this year. We want to encourage more people to volunteer in their community, and The Big Lunch is a great way to join in this summer. People can give out Tempo Time Credits to say thanks to their volunteers, who can then use them on tickets at Wales Millennium Centre, or a visit to a CADW castle, and many more local and online activities. This offer is only available for Big Lunches in Wales, so get involved!”

The Big Lunch is an idea from the Eden Project, made possible by the National Lottery. Last year over 165,000 people took part in the first virtual Big Lunch in Wales

This year, The Big Lunch will be a mix of virtual and in person events, making it easy and accessible for everyone to get involved. It could be a cuppa with a neighbour, a community picnic in the park, or socially distanced tea and cake with local volunteers. Online, on your doorstep, or on the move, it’s on!

“You can host your Big Lunch however and whenever you and your community feels most comfortable, what is important is setting aside some time to get to know one another. We know that amazing things happen when people come together” Lowri continued.
