wanted from his troops. Energy. Control. Dominance.

And they doubled their lead in the 13th minute when Piroe collected the ball just outside the box before drilling into the bottom corner of Swansea-born David Cornell’s goal.

The confidence oozed from those wearing white, and they came close to grabbing a third soon after extending their lead, but Piroe fired over from around 10 yards out after getting on the end of Bidwell’s header.

But the hosts survived a real scare on 27 minutes when Ferguson’s men worked the ball to Nathan Thompson on the right-hand side of the Swansea box, only for Ben Hamer to spectacularly palm away the defender’s fierce strike.

Martin’s men swiftly regained control, though, and the home fans were able to revel in what was a sublime display.

They had one final moment to celebrate on the stroke of half-time when Piroe picked out Ntcham, who had the freedom of the Swansea.com Stadium before drilling home from 18 yards out to send the hosts into the break with a commanding three-goal advantage.

Swansea were able to enjoy the second half with a real sense of freedom. They wanted a penalty on the hour mark when Laird went down

after running on to Ntcham’s backheel, but referee Matthew Donohue saw no problem with the challenge.

They came agonisingly close to creating another chance when Piroe won possession in the Peterborough box but he was unable to pick out Jamie Paterson.

It was the striker’s last act as he was replaced by Michael Obafemi on 63 minutes, with the substitute forcing Cornell into a smart save shortly after he entered the pitch.

Obafemi then fired at Cornell after slick link-up play with Korey Smith before fellow substitute Morgan Whittaker had a shot deflected over the bar.
