INFECTIONI­NFEC RATE IN WALES STILL FALLLING

FOUR more people peo have died with coronaviru­s in W Wales according to the latest figures from Public Pub Health Wales.

New data pu published yesterday, which covers the 24-ho hour period up to 9am on November 22, shows s the total number of Covid-related deaths de in Wales now stands at 6,361. There were wer also 1,931 new positive cases recorded i in the latest update, bringing the total number numbe since the pandemic began to 493,571.

The latest sev seven-day infection rate across Wales, based on the cases for every 100,000 people (for the seven s days up to November 18) now stands at 511.1 – a drop from the 521 reported on Monday. Mo

The local loc authority with the highest infection rate in Wales is Gwynedd with 886.3 cases per 100,000 poeple over seven days, followed by Vale of Glamorgan with 676 and Monmouthsh­ire with 582.5.

The test positivity rate across Wales is at 18.3%, down from 18.8%.

The areas of the country recording the highest numbers of new Covid cases are Cardiff with 240, Vale of Glamorgan with 136, Swansea with 135, Gwynedd with 129, Newport with 122, RCT with 116, and Carmarthen­shire with 112.

Meanwhile, Caerphilly had 96 new cases, Monmouthsh­ire had 81, Flintshire had 78, Bridgend had 71, Pembrokesh­ire had 70, Powys had 69, Neath Port Talbot had 66, and Conwy had 61.

The local authoritie­s recording the fewest cases were Torfaen with 57, Wrexham with 51, Denbighshi­re with 42, Anglesey with 40, Blaenau Gwent with 38, Merthyr Tydfil with 37, and Ceredigion with 19.

As of November 22 there were 644 people in general and acute hospital beds with coronaviru­s (confirmed, suspected, and recovering), – down from 653 – and 58 people in a ventilated intensive care bed, the same as the number reported on November 19.

The latest data showed that 2,464,579 people had received one dose of the coronaviru­s vaccine and 2,258,309 had been given both doses.

To date 736,935 people have received their Covid booster vaccine according to PHW.
