We do give Boris a great deal of credit

-

IN RESPONSE to the letter “Give Johnson credit for his achievements” (Western Mail, January 27), we do credit Johnson for his incredible achievement of still being our Prime Minister despite his reluctance to admit to having his cake and eating it, washed down with quantities of wine at numerous parties held at Number 10 while the rest of us were in lockdown.

We credit him for a Brexit deal that has given us supply shortages and rising prices in the shops.

We also credit him with the loss of nearly £5bn of public money fraudulently claimed during lockdown and the billions wasted on inadequate PPE.

We credit him with presiding over more than 150,000 deaths from Covid, one of the highest death rates in Europe.

We credit him for presiding over a catastrophic rise in fuel prices, combined with rising taxes, while cutting universal credit, resulting in rising child poverty compounded by inadequate measures to ensure safe return to classrooms.

We credit him with putting dogs and cats before children in the chaotic withdrawal from Afghanistan.

We credit him with planning to prevent future protest against plans to change the voting system as the only way for his party to hold on to power now that the Conservatives are no longer the party of business, or of Middle England, but of the super-rich who avoid paying their fair share of tax.

Can we credit that a Prime Minister who may be investigated by the Metropolitan Police for breaking the law in Number 10 is still there? Shame on his MPs for failing to remove him.
