SWANSEA City once again rebuffed the advances of Queens Park Rangers for Jamie Paterson on what was a transfer deadline day filled with frustration.

The Swans went into the final day of the window with the hope that they would add a left wing-back and a striker to their ranks.

They were keen on a loan swoop for Bristol City forward Nahki Wells who has been on the fringes under Nigel Pearson this season.

However, the Robins’ boss stated he had no intention of aiding his Championship rivals by sending Wells out on loan, adding that he was eager to keep the 31-year-old in his ranks.

Meanwhile, Swansea were intent on sticking to their guns regarding the valuation of Paterson. The attacker has missed the Swans’ last four matches due to a contract dispute with the club’s owners.

It’s understood Swansea wanted a fee of £750,000 for the 30-year-old - who recently had his contract extended by 12 months.

And having previously rejected two bids from QPR, Swansea turned down a third offer from the Hoops for Paterson on deadline day. It’s understood other clubs also showed late interest in the former Bristol City man.

Russell Martin’s men look to return to winning ways in the Championship against Luton Town tonight following Saturday’s 2-0 loss to Hull City.

But - amid late deadline day interest in Shrewsbury Town left-back Nathaneal Ogbeta - the Swans’ squad remains thin in areas with 20 matches of the league campaign still to be played.

The Swans were last night hopeful of concluding a deal worth around £300,000 to sign the ex-Manchester City defender from the League One club, with midfielder Liam Walsh attracting interesting regarding a possible loan exit from south Wales.
