Price petrol by gallon, make drivers think
THERE is little doubt that there are too many vehicles on the UK’s roads today.
A lot of unnecessary car mileage is undertaken; for example, school runs, short shopping runs, sole occupancy, etc. which are all big contributors to the problem.
What would be the effect if petrol was also priced by the gallon? Use the example of £1.60 a litre – that equates to £7.20 a gallon!
I would suggest that pump prices like this might cut out a lot of needless driving and lead to a health benefit.
