Abortion is still an issue in local politics

-

AS usual before an election we wrote on the question of abortion to three of our local councillors who are up for re-election. As is quite usual among political candidates, no reply has been received. So much for democracy.

Ever since abortion has been made legal in the UK we in conscience cannot vote for a candidate who supports the present legislation responsible for the present figure of 10 million UK abortions since the Abortion Act’s implementation on April 27, 1968.

We unsuccessfully fought against the opening of an abortion clinic in St Mary Street, Cardiff. The group British Pregnancy Advisory Services (BPAS) is funded by the NHS, this is a private-sector agency funded by the taxpayer – as if the NHS hasn’t enough financial problems.

Some may claim that local politics has nothing to do with such a clinic, or the promotion of abortion in Cardiff and elsewhere, however, councillors often end up as MPs or in Wales as Senedd Members.
