Johnson a hero in Ukraine conflict
I FEEL I must refute Margaret Phelps’ letter (Western Mail, May 7).
Boris Johnson is a hero in Ukraine. We were the first Parliament to be addressed by President Zelenskyy and Johnson famously took a stroll in Kyiv.
He had the foresight to be the first European leader to see Putin’s threat to invade Ukraine was real, supplied the weapons and trained the men who would use them.
This had a devastating effect on the Russian forces attacking Kyiv, and drove them back.
We all know the horrors left behind by the Russian occupiers.
Where was President Macron during this time?
Why, telephoning Putin begging him not to attack.
But how do you negotiate with a monster?
We acted as an independent nation because we could, unlike the EU, where 27 countries have to agree on anything, which so far they have failed to do.
