First Minister’s walk features nudist beach

-

FIRST Minister Mark Drakeford has revealed his favourite part of the Wales Coast Path, which just so happens to include a wellknown nudist beach.

Mr Drakeford made the comment at the Plenary yesterday while discussing Welsh Government plans to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the path, which trails around the entire Welsh coastline.

When the MS for Ogmore, Huw Irranca-Davies, asked Mr Drakeford what his favourite part of the Wales Coast Path is, he replied: “I was on the coastal path at the weekend. I was walking between Pendine in Sir Gar to Amroth in Pembrokeshire.

“It has some very steep inclines, up Marros mountain for example, and it has hidden parts of the coast, which, unless you take the coastal path, you will never see for yourself.”

Marros beach is on Carmarthen Bay, between Pendine and Amroth, near Saundersfoot.

The beach is described as being secluded and quiet with naturist use at the western end. The remainder of the beach is used at times by textiles and families. At high tide the route is cut off and access is only from the inland direction.

Addressing the speaker, Mr Drakeford said “a year-long programme of events and activities” will celebrate 10 years of the Wales Coast Path.
