Things To Do Before You’re 11¾

From stargazing to sunset watching and taking a friend on a nature adventure, the National Trust have a handy list of 50 ultimate activities for every young explorer.

Here are just a few to get started:

Get to know a tree

Every tree has something special about it. You could look in your garden, your local park or a forest for a tree that you’d like to get to know.

Some trees have hollows so big that you can climb inside, while others have tiny cracks where minibeasts hide.

Create some wild art

When it comes to creating wild art, the only limit is your imagination.

Use leaves, twigs, pine cones, pebbles, grass, flowers, moss and mud. There’s so much to choose from in the natural world – but make sure you’re not making your art from another creature’s home.

Make friends with a bug

Ladybirds, spiders, caterpillars, woodlice – there are all kinds of creepy crawlies hiding outdoors. Can you make friends with a bug?

Great spots for searching include under stones and wood, the branches, bark and leaves of trees and in long grass. Keep your eyes peeled if you want to see them.
