‘Welsh Government micromanaging lives’

-

THE First Minister declares that Wrexham Council is acting irresponsibly for rejecting the most recent local development plan.

An analogy is made with the delightful French fictitious village of Clochemerle.

Well all I can say as a member of Wrexham Council, I very much appreciate the analogy.

Look at the eccentricities of a Welsh Government elected by less than a quarter of the total Welsh electorate, who with their nonsovereign parliament impose their social experimentation upon Wales.

Remember it was the same Mark Drakeford who unilaterally declared that there will be no investiture for the Prince of Wales.

Did he consider the millions of pounds in revenue and world focus it would make? Did he consult the people of Wales? No.

The same Welsh Government has micromanagement over our lives.

It has interfered in the basic right of parents to discipline their children with moderate physical force. It has imposed a sex education programme, giving no one the right to opt out, irrespective of their personal beliefs.

Its agenda is indoctrination for many. But whether you agree with it or not, there is no opt out.

Then we are to be subject to a tourism tax and the Welsh Government does not believe in road expansion.

Proposals are for a universal income which will be even be granted to non-citizens. An experiment which failed in Finland. And lets not forget the 20-mile speed limit, which could be disastrous.

Its failing health service and poor education system are not safe in its hands, and millions of pounds are diverted into its failing life support system for the Welsh language.

Plus now there is no equality between the two languages, and a Welsh Language Commissioner imposes measures which in some ways are discriminatory to the majority. This alienates many against Welsh, and is sad for those of us who actually care for the future of the Welsh language.

So in this dictatorship, if there is to be analogy, I think we might not be fully there, but we are definitely on the way to 1984 or Animal Farm.

However, the most worrying factor is that Labour leader, Sir Keir Starmer has stated the Welsh vision is his own for Britain.

At least in Clochemerle there was happy dissent and freedom of debate.
