Desperate pub’s £500 bonus offer in bid to recruit staff

-

A POPULAR pub near the coast in west Wales is so desperate for staff it’s offering people a £500 bonus on top of their wages just to work there.

The Golden Lion in Newport, Pembrokeshire, has made the offer due to an expectation of being “very busy” over the coming months.

The pub is situated in the centre of the village of Newport, a short distance from the local beach and other attractions including the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path.

The village is gearing up for its peak season.

With that in mind, management at The Golden Lion are offering staff a handsome hiring bonus if they work an average of 35 hours a week over a 10-week period.

The bonus will also be paid to existing staff who work at the pub which, as well as being a popular drinking venue, has a restaurant and adjoined accommodation.

Explaining the offer, pub management said: “As we are approaching our busy spring and summer season, we are recruiting for various roles, front of house, housekeeping and kitchen. We have full time and parttime positions available.

“Our minimum age is 16 and we look either for a track record in hospitality or an eagerness to learn and give excellent customer service. We are busy during the summer months and are offering a £500 bonus payment to new and existing staff who work an average of more than 35 hours over the 10 weeks of summer.

“We are also offering a second-tier bonus of £200 to employees averaging 30 hours a week for the same period. We also offer hourly rates in excess of living wage, full tip share our customers are very generous! and cash tip share.

“If you would like to join our team, please get in touch via email - info@ thegoldenlion.co.uk - or just pop in for a chat.”
