ZENDAYA’S DOUBLE TAKE

-

FASHION powerhouse Zendaya brought the drama to the steps of the 2024 Met Gala, delivering two memorable fashion moments. One of the most anticipated arrivals of the night was US actress Zendaya, who served as a co-chair of the event, alongside Jennifer Lopez, Bad Bunny, and first-time attendee Chris Hemsworth. The 27-year-old first walked up the steps in a dramatic ocean-blue and green tulle gown with a matching dramatic headpiece from Maison Margiela, styled by her long-time collaborator Law Roach. The ensemble featured a hand-embroidered corsage, a hummingbird on her decolletage and a fascinator, which paid tribute to this year’s Garden Of Time dress code with a nod to the natural world. Her second surprise look came at the end of the carpet, with the Hollywood star opting for vintage black Givenchy couture from the spring 1996 collection, featuring a floral bouquet hat with a long train. US model Gigi Hadid also turned heads at the Met Gala, wearing an embellished Thom Browne gown adorned with yellow flowers and green leaves as she was helped up the stairs by five members of staff. Other stars embodying the dress code included US singer Lana Del Rey with a Mother Nature-inspired woodland custom look from Alexander McQueen by Irish designer Sean McGirr. Elsewhere, Oscar winner Eddie Redmayne led the British stars opting for bold looks. The actor, who has just been nominated for a Tony Award for his starring role in the Broadway production of Cabaret, wore an eye-catching Steve O Smith monochrome ensemble. It was made up of a wool and organza applique coat with a matching tulle skirt. He co-ordinated with his wife Hannah Bagshawe, who wore a matching a silk organza gown built over a tulle skirt and corset, with black silk crepe applique, also by Smith. Singer Rita Ora also turned heads in her daring gown by Marni, with antique beads draped over her front and back but the sides of her body totally exposed. The singer appeared to be protecting her modesty with a nude body stocking underneath, teamed with nude sandals. She walked the red carpet with her director husband Taika Waititi, who wore a brown leather suit and gloves. British singer Dua Lipa opted for a jaw-dropping ensemble with a Marc Jacobs corset and black lace ensemble, which left the skin on her hips exposed. The look was teamed with a long, feathered black train. Brit Award winner Raye wore Fendi custom couture, made up of a silk silver bustier and organza skirt embroidered with three dimensional flowers. Meanwhile, actress Sienna Miller opted for a demure, white lace, high-necked tiered gown by Chloe. She teamed the look with black studded high heels. Succession star Matthew Macfadyen wore a midnight blue crushed velvet tuxedo and black bow tie to walk the red carpet with his actress wife Keeley Hawes. The Line Of Duty and Bodyguard star wore a black off-the-shoulder puffed sleeve gown with statement pink flowers. The couple first met when they starred together in Spooks on BBC One in 2002.
