Helston pub named region’s most dog-friendly in nationwide awards event

A pub in Helston has been named as the most dog-friendly in the South West.

The Halzephron Inn was named best in the region by an online dog sitting platform DogBuddy.com, which are in the third year of organising the Dog-friendly Pub Awards.

Claire Murray, landlady at The Halzephron Inn was delighted with the news, said that their proximity to the South West Coast Path meant welcoming dogs was an important part of their trade.

She said: “This is an amazing award to win, as it is our cus- tomers who have recognised the hard work and effort put in by our team to make every customer feel welcome.

“Being dog-friendly is very important to us; our business is located on the South West coastal path with stunning views.

“Being able to welcome our furry friends with a bit of refreshmen­t gives owners a reason to head to us.”

Also included in the top 10 are The Ship Inn (Teignmouth) in second place, the Victoria Inn (Salcombe) in fifth, St Kew Inn (Bodmin) in eighth, Sonder (Truro) in ninth, and The Pub on the Hoe (Plymouth) in 10th.

Pubs in Gloucester and Dorset rounded out the top 10.
