Winter wonderland with warm welcome

Known for its large and everchangi­ng Christmas displays and animations, Tamar View Nurseries is the place to be this winter.

The Saltash garden centre is a sight to behold during the festive season, attracting thousands of people to a winter wonderland which includes a blanket of snow, animated reindeer, donkeys, polar bears and, of course, Father Christmas’s grotto.

The whole experience has been given a huge thumbs-up by children of all ages, not to mention mums and dads, so this year Tamar View has extended its opening times by offering more tickets available than ever before.

Visitors will be greeted by three of Santa’s singing reindeer as they approach the dazzling grotto, as well as more than 60 animated, moving characters that all add to the festive spirit.

Tamar View’s very own Santa brings joy to the world, and hands out more than 3,000 Train to Christmas Town is a 70-minute Christmas spectacle, expertly designed to bring the spirit of Christmas to the whole family and will operate from Dartmoor Railway from November 30 right through to December 23.

Enjoy the best in interactiv­e festive fun with the crazy golden-ticket-punching conductor, join in singing and dancing with the elves and feast on delicious hot chocolate and cookies while you jour- surprise gifts each year to children of all ages.

Entry to the grotto costs £5.99 for children, while adults can go in free. Booking is recommende­d to avoid disappoint­ment. For a small extra cost there will also be a photograph­er who can turn pictures into baubles, key rings, fridge magnets and 6x4 photos to cherish forever.
