ABOUT THE AREA
Churston Ferrers is a delightful village just south of Torbay, set in a tranquil conservation area, just inland from the clifftop downs of the coast.
A ten-minute walk across the downs leads to beautiful Elbury Cove and the coastal footpath to Churston Cove.
The historic towns of Totnes and Dartmouth are both within ten miles; Paignton also offers a wide range of amenities.
Communications:
It’s about 16 miles to the A38 Devon Expressway, providing access to Plymouth and Exeter. Totnes has a mainline railway station to London Paddington, and Exeter has an international airport.
Schools:
Nearby Kingswear and Stoke Gabriel both have “good” rated primary schools, with more in Paignton and Brixham. Churston Ferrers Grammar School is a selective co-educational grammar school with Academy status, with more secondary school options in the area both state and private.
Out and about
This is a beautiful part of Devon to explore on foot or by boat, in the sheltered estuary of the River Dart.
Dartmoor National Park is about a half an hour’s drive.
Churston Golf Club offers an 18-hole course on downs turf with superb views to the sea. Set behind the ancient church, Churston Manor is a country house hotel with a well-regarded restaurant with plenty of atmosphere.
