Pollard paintings prove popular
Collectors were out in force for a group of nine paintings by popular Plymouth artist Brian Pollard that came up for auction last week.
Five paintings had been consigned from a seller in the Midlands who had sent them to the Plymouth Auction Rooms knowing their track record for sales of naïve art.
The estimates proved over conservative with many new collectors bidding at the saleroom and online, pushing the prices up.
Highlights in the collection included ‘Christmas at the Dolphin’, 1998’ at £1,050, ‘Sunflowers and St Ives’, 2001, at £620, ‘Eclipse, Mounts Bay’ 1999, £700 and ‘Hoe Summer’, at £400.
