Rare sword for collectors
Arare Victorian 2nd Lifeguards Officer’s Sword with scabbard, 1845 pattern, is an exciting item in Monday’s sale. It has an 88cm blade by Hawkes & Co – and carries a guide of £700-£1,000.
Brought in by St Peter’s Church in Budleigh Salterton, where it was once host to its Christmas tree, is a Roger’s Pale Ale & Stout coopered and painted wooden barrel. The location of the brewery is unknown – but it is anticipated the auctioneer will be duly informed by a CAMERA member (£60-£100).

CChilcotts’ next Saturday sale will demonstrate how well good design, whether antique or modern, can work perfectly together.
