ABOUT THE AREA
The development under construction during summer 2018; now complete Sparkwell is a small village just outside the Southwestern edge of Dartmoor National Park, in easy reach of the A38 and Plymouth. It has both an Anglican and a Congregational church.
Though peaceful, Sparkwell has been brushed with celebrity stardust. Its local pub, the Treby Arms, was previously run by Anton Piotrowski, who won MasterChef: The Professionals.
On the outskirts of the village is Dartmoor Zoological Park, subject of Benjamin Mee’s bestselling book, We Bought a Zoo. This was later adapted into a film starring Matt Damon.
This is a beautiful spot with lots to offer. It’s in easy reach of South Devon’s coastline and picturesque seaside towns, including Bigbury-on-Sea and Salcombe. It’s also a stone’s throw from Dartmoor, with its miles of wilderness to explore.
Of course if golf is your “thing”, you can’t get much closer than Sparkwell golf course, a “testing” nine-hole course designed and built in the grounds of a manor house in 1993, with spectacular views over the surrounding countryside and moors.
It’s become well known in the golf community for its great condition and year-round playability. After your round you can enjoy a coffee and slice of cake in the handsome Welbeck Manor Hotel.
Plymouth city centre is within eight miles of this development, as is Ivybridge which has a train station on the main line to London.
