Q&A with...
Caroline Gitsham, Head of Sales and Marketing at Langham Wine Estate
Q. Why should people visit the region?
A. The South West has some outstanding coastline and countryside, as well as a vibrant food and drink scene. There are vineyards and wineries across the region with many, including us, offering tours, tastings, events and café facilities throughout the year.
Q. What does your role at Langham Wine Estate involve?
A. As the Head of Sales and Marketing, I look after all sales channels including the tasting room, events, shows, online shop and trade. On the marketing side, I am responsible for social media, advertising, sponsorship, collaborations and PR.
Q. Why has this summer been good for you?
A. The long growing season with warm, sunny and dry weather and no late frosts has meant that the grapes have developed well, with excellent levels of ripeness. With no rot and optimum levels of sugar, alcohol and acidity, we have not added any additional sugar and have been able to let the wines ferment spontaneously, which should result in some high quality low-intervention wines.
