OOMPH! is making people happy at Pilton House

-

Looking ahead to Christmas and the New Year beyond, staff at Pilton House are reflecting on 2017.

They have continued renovation plans throughout the building, welcomed new residents and new staff and expanded the activities team.

Part of this has been undertaking the OOMPH! Wellbeing programme this autumn. OOMPH! Stands for Our Organisation Makes People Happy and they are proud a number of staff are now trained in a wide range of activities, person-centred goal planning and in delivering physical activities and personalised programmes.

Along with this, the personalisation project continues, with life stories, memory boxes and reminiscence. The team of trained and experienced staff are committed to ensuring that all who come to Pilton House are supported with respect and dignity.

The individuals choices, wants and wishes are at the heart of the care provided. All staff receive specialist dementia care training and are champions for those who require their support. The team show commitment, compassion and hard work.

This year they have been working with other groups within the community including Pathfields Schools, Pilton Blue Coats, the Princes Trust, PLUSS, the Northern Devon Healthcare Trust and students from Petroc College.

Remembrance day was commemorated this year by residents and the activities team who worked together for weeks to make 100 poppies to cascade down the front of the home. It was a beautiful display and very poignant for so many of us.

Pilton House is a registered charity and they would like to take this opportunity to thank all of their supporters throughout the year and wish you all a very happy Christmas.

If you would be interested in joining in 2019 as a volunteer, a member of the fundraising group or as a trustee, get in touch with Pilton House.
