Busy online sale saw high prices for watches
WE had our busiest online sale on Monday, July 10 with 738 out of 794 lots selling. It was also the first time since lockdown we allowed a limited number of bidders into the room.
We started the sale with a single owner collection of Tin Plate and other toys with 350 lots making just over £26,000 (all prices inc. 21.6% B.P.). 13. A scarce Triang Minic 50ME Rolls Royce Sedanca which sold for £360. But the top price and by far the oldest toy was German 18thC. Coach Carriage (26cm approx) in it’s original wooden box. This sold for £470. There is a similar example in Munich’s National Musuem.
Also dating from the early 18th century a Doll Pin Cushion with painted wooden head and jointed arms, 11.5cm tall sold to a US bidder for £2165.
With three watches making over £2000 the highest price was for a 1970’s Rolex Submariner which sold on the phone for over £10,200.
A 1950’s Rolex Oyster ref. 6098 sold to a Hong Kong commission bid for £4255.
Again, jewellery showed some very strong results with a Victorian Cabochon Sapphire and Old Cut Diamond Crescent Brooch 454 selling to a private London buyer for £3185.
A single owner collection of modern Royal Mint coins sold for over £9000 with the top price held by two lots of Beatrix Potter 50p silver proof coins. Both made £910 despite one having a face value of just £2.50 and the other £2.00!
