Bidders from all around the world

-

AUCTIONEER Paul Keen conducted his final auctions of the year at Plymouth Auction Rooms this week. It was a very busy sale with over 400 lots of antiques, jewellery and collectables sold over two sales in one day.

Once again there was buoyant internet bidding with hundreds of online bidders from across the UK, Europe, the US and even China.

Amongst the highlights was the 1868 Charles Dickens five pound cheque payable to The Royal Hotel, Plymouth. As expected this attracted a lot of interest and was finally knocked down to a bidder from Cornwall for an impressive £780.

A collection of James Bond books sold for well over expectations, many collectors wanted to buy them and they raised a total premium include price of £2800.

Rolex watches continue to be very popular at auction, a Deep Sea watch went for £7500, a Submariner for £5800 but the main surprise was a scruffy vintage Oyster which sold for several times its estimate range at £3200 to a London telephone bidder. The diamonds sold well with several four figures lots, but the stand out was a beautiful bracelet which sold to an online bidder for a stunning £5800.

The auctioneers are now thinking about its 2021 auctions. For further details call 01752 254740 or send a message to info@ plymouthauctions. co.uk
