There’s a Somerset cheesemaking company which has won more awards for one it products than any other cheddar in the world. Ivy’s Special Recipe Vintage Cheddar, made by Wyke, is currently on sale in more than 150 countries around the globe.

The company has now brought out a special Christmas edition pack, (wykefarms.com) explaining that the Ivy’s Vintage goes through a careful maturation period, for no fewer than 15 months. “Cheddar at its very best,” is what they say. “It has a smooth silky texture with a slight crunch - the flavour is ‘rounded’ balancing the sweet notes with creaminess and nuttiness.”
