WI is helping to keep all our spirits up

-

I TOO, like Alice Beak, am a WI member. Here at Farrington Gurney, each committee member chose a role to play in keeping our group’s spirits up. Photos with humorous slogans of life in lockdown in one household were posted to members. Weekly phone calls were made to the housebound. Monthly ‘virtual’ meetings have been posted, covering the subjects pre-booked in our calendars. Surprise Christmas packages were delivered to each member and those abled members have practised WI skills of knitting, sewing, baking and crafts supplying needy causes.

Sadly, this month, we lost one of our long-standing members. She had joined the WI at the age of 14 and had clocked up 78 years’ membership. We plan to plant a tree in her memory in our Bee Garden continuing the WI’s campaign of Showing the Love.

Farrington Gurney is a very important village group; in February we will have been going 95 years.
