MANCHESTER United and Manchester City’s Carabao Cup semifinal will take place on January 6 with Tottenham against Brentford the previous evening, the EFL has announced.

The four teams came through their quarter-finals this week and Wednesday night’s draw threw up a pair of derbies.

Championship Brentford, who have already knocked out four Premier League sides, will make the journey across London to face Spurs on Tuesday, January 5.

That game is a 7.45pm kick-off, as is the following night’s Manchester derby at Old Trafford.

The competition’s final has been moved from its scheduled February 28 slot to April 25 at Wembley, in the hope that coronavirus restrictions will have been sufficiently relaxed to allow more fans to attend the game.

Former Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino is the main contender to take over at Paris St-Germain after Thomas Tuchel was sacked. It is reported that talks between PSG and Pochettino started at least two weeks ago and that PSG players have been told that the Argentine, 48, will be joining the club. PSG are currently third in Ligue 1, a point behind leaders Lyon, and are also through to the last 16 of the Champions League, where they will face Barcelona.
