We need to tackle the coronavirus at source

-

SOME years ago, while travelling in South America, I passed through an area ravaged by dengue, a tropical and highly-infectious viral disease.

On boarding the aircraft in Rio de Janeiro for the flight home, I and all the other passengers were liberally doused with some sort of anti viral agent.

A stewardess walked down the aisle with a canister in each hand, spraying everybody with a determination that ensured no hiding place for any lingering bug.

Could somebody please tell me why nothing similar has been done to curb the spread of coronavirus in the UK?

We’ve been subjected to a whole range of panic measures, from social distancing to school closures, face masks to ridiculous perspex barriers at the supermarket, and now inoculations. But nothing – absolutely nothing – has been done to tackle the virus at source.

The RAF has hundreds of helicopters standing idle, waiting for a call to arms. Could not one or two be used to spray some lethal mixture over corona hotspots and at least slow the spread of this virus, now mutating and wreaking more havoc?

If the Chinese can do it, so can we.
