Western Morning News (Saturday)
A message from the editor
The Western Morning News has been serving the readers of the Westcountry since 1860 and through many challenges, from World Wars to global pandemics, we have always put this wonderful region first, offering a unique and unashamedly Westcountry view of events.
In more recent years we have campaigned for the countryside of the South West. Whether it has faced crises caused by uncaring London-centric politicians or natural disasters from foot and mouth to flood and drought, the WMN has fought the Westcountry corner.
In the past year the challenges we face have been even greater. Coronavirus has impacted on almost every area of our lives and successive lockdowns meant we had to change the way we worked as an editorial team.
We overcame those hurdles without missing an edition and continue to bring our loyal readers the news and features they need.
But we cannot do it without your continuing support and the commitment readers make to buying the newspaper every day ensures we can maintain the high editorial standards that we set ourselves and readers rightly expect. One sure way to show your support is through joining our new subscription service, which guarantees you will receive your regular WMN.
Thank you for picking up today’s edition. Please consider signing up to become a part of Western Morning News’ next exciting chapter.
