Hospitals record ten new deaths

THE latest NHS data shows ten more people have died in hospitals across Devon and Cornwall after testing positive for coronaviru­s.

Out of the ten deaths, two were confirmed at Plymouth’s Derriford Hospital with one being on January 24 and the other being January 28. This brings the total number of confirmed Covid-19 related deaths at Derriford to 185 with three deaths being at Mount Gould.

On January 26 one death was confirmed at Torbay Hospital with another two on January 28. These deaths now bring the total number of Covid-19 deaths in Torbay to 91.

There were two deaths at the RD&E. One was recorded on January 23 and the other on January 27. This now brings the total number of deaths at the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital to 229.

There have been two more Covid-19 deaths at the Royal Cornwall Hospital. They both happened on January 27, this now brings the number of confirmed related coronaviru­s deaths to 182 with 140 being at Royal Cornwall hospital and 42 being at the Cornwall Partnershi­ps Trust.

North Devon Hospital confirmed one further coronaviru­s death on January 28, bringing the total number of deaths there to 75.
