Scilly Isles party results in nine lockdown fines

-

NINE Fixed Penalty Notice fines have been issued in the Isles of Scilly after a late night party on Wednesday night which one police sergeant has described as “a selfish act”.

Sgt Darren White, of Devon and Cornwall Police’s Isles of Scilly policing team, took to Twitter to vent his frustration at the lockdown flouters who he said put their “fragile” community at risk.

The tweet said: “Nine Covid Fixed Penalty Notices issued today for a late night party last night. “There are no excuses, and next day apologies do not come close to justifying the risk this single selfish act exposes our fragile community to!”

Government rules currently in place during the third lockdown in England state that people must only leave their home to shop for basic necessities, for the person or a vulnerable person; to go to work, or provide voluntary or charitable services, if you cannot reasonably do so from home; to exercise with your household (or support bubble) or one other person (in which case you should stay 2m apart) – exercise should be limited to once per day, and you should not travel outside your local area; to meet your support bubble or childcare bubble where necessary, but only if you are legally permitted to form one; to seek medical assistance or avoid injury, illness or risk of harm (including domestic abuse); to attend education or childcare.
