TO DO LIST

-

■ There’s still time to plant barerooted shrubs, hedging plants, roses and fruit – you can continue until mid-March.

■ Assemble raised bed kits or invest in large patio containers to create a potted kitchen garden near the back door.

■ If your yew, privet or box hedges are overgrown, cut back one side hard now. Pull ivy and tree seedlings out of hedge bases.

■ Complete winter digging, when the weather permits. If you want to make an early start, cover prepared soil with black plastic so it warms up without sprouting a covering of weeds.
