£400 fine for the filmed flytipper

A FLY-tipper has been fined £400 for dumping his old bathroom suite at the gates of a local recycling centre.

The environmental enforcement team at Plymouth City Council say CCTV footage showed that a man had left his waste outside the gates of the city’s Weston Mill recycling centre.

He was told by council staff his rubbish would not be accepted at Weston Mill, and that he would need to take his ceramics to Chelson Meadow in Plymstock.

So he dumped his bathroom suite by the gates – but didn’t realise he had been caught on camera.

The environmental enforcement team at Plymouth City Counci said the man was told he needed to take ceremic waste to another site but simply dumped it: “He didn’t realise he was in clear view of the CCTV.” He has since paid his £400 fine.
