Hundreds evacuated as WWII bomb discovered
HUNDREDS of people were evacuated from their homes yesterday after builders working on private land next to the University of Exeter campus discovered an unexploded World War II bomb
Police officers and the Royal Navy bomb disposal team were called to Glenthorne Road near the Streatham Campus, and a 100m cordon set up.
A care home and several university halls of residence were among those evacuated, while police closed roads in the area and managed traffic. The incident was yesterday still ongoing although there was said to be “no immediate danger” from the device.
