Proof of vaccine has always been needed

-

THE idea of requiring international travellers to carry a vaccination certificate (passport is a misnomer) showing that they have had a Covid vaccination is not new.

When I was in the Merchant Navy I was required to carry proof that I had been vaccinated against smallpox, yellow fever, typhoid and cholera (and I still have those certificates).

It is utterly irrational, if not preposterous for those who oppose the idea of Covid vaccination certificates as to claim that it would be an erosion of their civil liberties or (that overly and increasingly misused phrase beloved of the PC and woke brigades) ‘human rights’.

There are already many countries, where yellow fever, typhoid and cholera are endemic that require visitors to be vaccinated against those diseases – and given the global catastrophe that has resulted from the current pandemic, it would be madness for any country not to require travellers to carry proof that they had been vaccinated against Covid.

Unfortunately far too many people are quick to scream about their ‘rights’ as citizens, completely ignoring the fact that they also have ‘duties’ – and one of their most important duties is to assist in the fight against Covid by having the jab.

Those who promote the lie that the pandemic is a global hoax, and those who provide the platforms for them to promote their (and I make no apologies for using the word) dangerous propaganda, should face criminal prosecution. Robert Readman
