Time to find period and modern pieces

-

CLARKS has a public viewing at its April 15 sale for the first time since New Year’s Day as the government partially lifts its applied population movement restrictions. The sale itself is very eclectic with some great furnishing items.

Auctioneer Paul Clark said: “There are some great lots throughout, but the furniture catches the eye with numerous pieces from the 18th century and earlier.”

The sale kicks off with some period rustic stools, all there to be sold. An 18th/19th century rustic farmhouse walnut stool would look great in any property and really catches the eye at just £30-40.

A well looked after, William Paddon of Modbury, Devon oak longcase clock, also hopes to find a new home at £300-400.

At the New Year’s Day sale, an impressive bronze figure of Narcissus the Hunter did very well so it’s great to see another arrive, this time in gilded bronze. The same guide of £600-800 has been applied.

The sculptor Paul Vanstone is now world renowned. Influenced by Henry Moore, Vanstone now stands alone as a fine contemporary artist and an onyx sculpture on marble plinth made at his London studio goes under the hammer at £10002000.

The sale closes with a good selection of silver and jewellery items. Cartier remain one of the leading jewellery names in the world and a gents watch with box and paperwork asks £2000-3000.
