On a mission to sell online

-

FATHER Reinhold Romanus Zeller was born in Germany in 1908. He joined the Dominican Order and by the end of World War II was working as a missionary in China. He was a resident in Hong Kong for 28 years up to his death in 1977. During this time his talented skills as an artist were put to good work capturing the bustling scenes of Hong Kong Street life. Three large oil on canvas street scenes and one of moored junks are in our May auction, along with a series of seven portraits.

Also featured is a pair of C19th serpentine candlesticks, with flared sconces on octagonal stems and a travelling font of turned and polished Luxullianite in a Cadgwith style.

From a Tamar bridge toll house is a set of four Campagna cast urn planters on cast stands, a pot bellied planter, and a cast table from pre-1897 by Gaskells & Chambers of Birmingham.

We also have a super array of period mirrors, including a huge c1880 over mantle of neo-classical styling with egg and dart detail and broken pediment, a George II style pier, early C19th convex, gilded gesso and foxed plate examples.

This sale is a timed online auction starting May 20 and ending May 23. Bidders must register on our website.
