Toddler died in collision at campsite

A GIRL who died at a campsite in Cornwall was hit by a car towing a caravan, police have confirmed.

Devon and Cornwall officers have provided more details about Wednesday’s fatal incident on the Lizard peninsula, adding the victim was a 20-month-old girl from the Nottingham area.

The A3083 was partially blocked following the incident which happened on private land. The Cornwall Air Ambulance was called out to the casualty.

It is understood that the place where the incident took place was Little Trethvas Holidays’ campsite, located between Ruan Major and The Lizard village.

A police spokespers­on said: “Police and paramedics were called to a campsite in the Helston area following a report of a collision between a vehicle and a child at around 12.50pm on Wednesday 12 May.

“Tragically, the child, a 20-month-old girl from the Nottingham area, was pronounced deceased at the scene.”
