Continue hardening off tender veg plants and trays of summer bedding. Gradually increase the time they spend outside, or with the lid of the cold frame open, to accustom them to conditions.

Prepare the soil ready for planting out frost-tender veg such as courgettes, runner beans and sweetcorn. These need plenty of well-rotted organic matter and fertiliser.

Thin out rows of seedlings in the vegetable patch.

Start mowing the lawn more frequently. Mow round spring bulbs for now.
