Interesting firearms in easylive auction lots
OKEHAMPTON Auctions is holding an online easylive auction between July 28 and August 1.
James Duffield Harding (17981863) was a British artist who regularly exhibited at exhibitions of the Old Watercolour Society (OWCS). On offer is a watercolour attributed to him depicting various sailing vessels in a calm sea. It measures 7 ½in x 14 ½in & invites bids of £180-£220.
Amongst several interesting firearms for sale is a pair of 19th century Tower flintlock pistols. They have walnut stocks with steel & brass mounts. They have a swivel mounted ramrod which meant that it could not be dropped when re-loading which was especially useful for mounted troops. They are 12½in long and in good order with just the usual wear to the stocks commensurate with use. The pair should attract bids of £400-£600.
Popular with the retro furniture market is a blond beech Ercol dropleaf table with 4 stick back chairs. Made in High Wycombe Buckinghamshire, their gold label
denotes them dating from 1977. As a set they are priced at £150-£200.
Amongst a large selection of Royal Doulton china from a private collection is a flambe glazed character jug modelled as Confucius. The designer was Robert Tabbenor and it was produced as a limited edition in 1995. It is 8 inches high and comes complete with its authenticity certificate with a guide of £60-£90.
For collectors of ladies accessories is an elaborate Kigu Cherie wedding edition powder compact dating from the 1950s. The heart-shaped design is patterned with gilt swirls applied in relief with marcasite wedding bells and cartouche with the initial “N”. In excellent order it is priced at £50-£80.
