Two auctions in February
ABUSY start to 2022 continues at Bearnes Hampton & Littlewood with two auctions in the same week showing the diversity of the market in the 21st century.
Among the 400 lots on offer in the 20th Century and Contemporary auction on February 15, there is eye catching modern furniture, studio glass, studio pottery, pictures, jewellery and design.
Within the designer furniture lots are five beautiful pieces by Norfolk based cabinet maker David Gregson (b.1954), including this olive wood, ash and American walnut two-drawer side table which as a pre-sale estimate of £300 - £500*.
In the varied offering of pictures is the 1970’s William Scott Screen print titled Still Life with Frying Pan and Eggs. Scott was known among the St Ives artists and also while in America, met leading abstract painters including Mark Rothko and Jackson Pollock. This pre-auction estimate for this lots is £3000 - £5000*.
The Antiques & Interiors auction to be held on February 16 has what one would call more ‘traditional’ antiques like this 18th century Dutch Delft blue and white charger, with an estimate of £80-£100*.
There is also the ‘kitsch’ or ‘retro’ aspect of many older pieces such as this set of Beswick flying Partridge wall plaques, carrying an estimate of £70£100* These original sets are becoming popular again for interior designers.
