-

ST Ives Harbour and St Michael’s Mount in Cornwall, Hope Cove in Devon, Durdle Door in Dorset and Cheddar Gorge in Somerset have been named on a list of the UK places to see before you die.

Vision Express carried out the survey of 1,500 adults, with plenty of beautiful sights across the UK featuring. They then compiled a list of the top 30 places people should put on their bucket list – and one Cornwall’s location made the top 10.

St Ives Harbour takes 6th place, making it the most highly rated sight in the whole of Cornwall.

Cheddar Gorge takes 7th place, St Michael’s Mount, in Marazion, took the 12th spot, Durdle Door 15th and Hope Cove in Devon 30th spot.

St Ives Harbour is home to many shops, galleries, cafes and pubs along the street that runs parallel to the sea. Its thick harbour walls also shelter the stunning soft sandy beach, which is an ideal safe spot for swimming and building sand castles, and is surrounded by the hustle and bustle of this popular resort. The town is still very much a working port and from the beach visitors can watch local fishermen landing their daily catches of fresh seafood like mackerel and bass and the town’s Lifeboat Station, situated on the harbour for over 100 years, is open to visitors during the summer.

St Michael’s Mount, one of Cornwall’s most iconic landmarks, is home to the St Aubyn family as well as a small community, and the island is home to a medieval church and castle that sit atop the hill, with the oldest buildings dating to the 12th century. There’s also the subtropical terraced garden for people to explore and take in the breath taking views of Mount’s Bay. Four in 10 surveyed said it was “easy to forget” how beautiful Britain is.
