WHITTONS of Honiton’s next auction on Wednesday is a Silver, Jewellery, Watches and Gold Coins sale commencing at 10.30am.

The day’s proceeding­s commence with over 600 lots of silver comprising a fine George I tapering chocolate pot with hinged lid and swan neck spout dated 1719 by Thomas Parr, estimated at £3,500 - £5,000, and a William and Mary flat-top lidded tankard made in London in 1690 by John Duck with a pre-sale estimate of £5,000 - £8,000.

There are numerous silver novelty items including several private collection­s of snuff boxes, caddy spoons and vinaigrett­es,

There follows over 200 lots of Georgian, Victorian and vintage jewellery, watches and gold coins to include over 100 sovereigns.

Viewing for this auction will be on Monday, August 22 and Tuesday, August 23 from 9.30am – 4.30pm.

The following auction is an Enthusiast Sale to include a BSA Bantam and other motoring items and memorabili­a. This will be a timed online auction ending from 2pm on

Wednesday, August 31. Viewing for this auction will be on Tuesday, August 30 by appointmen­t only.

Whittons is currently consigning for a Militaria auction which will be held at the end of September together with a Collectabl­es and Interiors auction on September 7.

Further entries are also being invited for a Three-Day Christmas auction which will include a selection of wines and spirits to liven up the festive season, a large collection of antique furniture and pictures and another full day of fine silver and jewellery.

Whittons also continues to offer a private buying service which is proving immensely popular with instant funds paid for items such as those unwanted, even broken jewellery, gold and silver items that may be stashed at the back of drawers or cupboards. It is certainly worth having a rummage to convert these items into cash.
