Raising a toast to Her Majesty’s long reign

-

A WELL-LOVED Cornish brewery has been praised for its special tribute to Her Majesty the Queen following her death.

Skinner’s Brewery announced this week that it has created a “respectful pale amber ale” called Ma’am, in honour of Queen Elizabeth II.

The independent and familyowned brewery, based in Truro, known for its Betty Stogs, Porthleven and Lushington’s beers, shared the news on social media, alongside the illustration designed for the ale’s label.

It features a silhouette of Her Majesty standing beside a corgi on a beach at sunset as she waves at surfers in the sea. The label reads: ‘One last wave. Thank you. HM Queen Elizabeth II 19262022’.

Alongside the post, a spokesperson for Skinner’s Brewery wrote: “Thank you, Ma’am. Our brewers and illustrator sprang into action over the weekend, creating a tribute in the manner they know best.

“‘Ma’am’ is a respectful pale amber ale. It’s the perfect cask beer to mark this moment in British history, and to toast the peaceful rest of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II.

“Whether you’re a monarchist or not, this is a moment to pause and mark the end of an era, simply saying ‘thank you’ for seven decades of incredible public service.”

A spokesperson later added in the comments that the ale would not be available in bottles as it will be put into casks exclusively for local pubs.

They added: “We hope you all get to try this one-off draught brew and enjoy it, if stocked in your local this weekend.”

The post was met with dozens of comments praising the brewery for it’s “lovely tribute”. Darren Robert Fellows commented: “Beautiful artwork, congratulations. I’ve never tried your beer but certainly look forward to it soon.” Meanwhile, Steve Dawson said about the illustration: “I love how everyone is waving back!! Classy tribute done in true Skinner’s fashion!”

Samantha Gaudin added: “Wonderful tribute to her Majesty!” and William Drew said: “Really lovely touch, thank you Skinner’s.
